About Me
Tao Yang graduated from Beijing University of Technology in 2005 and completed his Ph.D degree in July, 2010 from the same university, under full scholarship support. During his PhD, he constructed a new laboratory to test Solid Oxide Fuel Cells. He completed a placement in NRC, Vancouver, Canada in the framework of a H2 energy project in 2007. After graduation, he worked as a senior staff and subsequently was promoted as assistant general manager in Beijing HYHZ Ltd, China, a high-tech company for 2 and half years. The project was of energy and electricity generation from the heat of burning municipal waste. In 2012, he won a post-doc scholarship from FCT, Portugal (SFRH/BPD/86336/2012) and in December 2015, FCT awarded him a three-year extension after the ‘excellent’ rated three-year evaluation. Up until now, he has been working in the battery and fuel cell field in TEMA, University of Aveiro, Portugal. He has been funded by FCT to perform a collaborative stay in Curtin University, Australia for three months in 2015 and in Beijing University of Technology, China for three months in 2017. He has 30 patents on batteries and fuel cells. He has published 48 papers in international peer review journals with over 800 citations. He also has 12 international conference posters and oral presentations, the majority as 1st author. His h-index is 13 until 2020. He was the PI for two projects of the Beijing University Graduate Innovation Funding for SOFCs and has taken part in seven National 973 Program of China, National 863 program of China, National Outstanding Youth Fund, China and Beijing Natural Science Foundation project in his Ph.D program, in which the funding was over 1 million US$. As evidence of recognition from the broad scientific community, he is the Lead Guest Editor for International Journal of Electrochemistry (since 2015), a peer-reviewing expert for International Journal of Hydrogen Energy (since 2015); Peer-reviewing expert for Journal of Energy and Power Engineering (Since 2016); He is the Organising and Scientific Committee Member of the 6th-9th International conference on Advanced Nanomaterials (2015-2017); Organising and Scientific Committee Member of the 1st-4th International conference on Graphene Technology (2015-2017); Organising and Scientific Committee Member of the 1st-3rd International conference on Spintronics Materials (2015-2017); Scientific member of the Centre for Mechanical Technology and Automation in University of Aveiro, Portugal (since 2014). European Commission H2020 Natural Science Research Evaluation Panel Member (EX2016D280568, since 2016) He has Examination qualification certificates of the ISO 9001, 14000, 16000. He taught TOEFL to more than 3000 students from 2009-2012, in weekends and summer holidays as part time job, because of his excellence of English level and skills. He himself got 8.0/9.0 in IELTS in 2016. Now he got B2 level in Portuguese in 2017. He is adept to scientific publications, patents, and already have 15 years of experience in the field of membrane, film, material science, and electrochemistry. He has strong power of will to continue the research further into clean energy and advanced material scope, especially fuel cell and hot battery field, and is determined to become a great scientist internationally to make the world a better place.
