About Me
Born in Lisbon in January 1974. PhD (2005), MSc (1999), Grad. (1996) in Mechanical Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico. Professor (Associate) of Machine Elements II, Computer-Aided Design, Technical Drawing, Numerical Simulation for Manufacturing, Fatigue Design of Mechanical Joints and Structures at Nova School of Science and Technology (NOVA FCT). Research Interests: Mechanical Design, Structural Integrity, Numerical Simulation, Fatigue and Fracture Mechanics, Creep, Additive Manufacturing, Failure Analysis, Mechanical Behaviour of Materials: metals, polymers and ceramics. Coordinates the Mechanical Engineering Section of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (DEMI), the Machine Design Group, the Mechanical Engineering Integrated Master, the Mechanical Engineering Master and the Research Group of UNIDEMI - Design, Experimentation and Simulation in Engineering (DESE). From 13 September 2023 to 22 November 2023, he served as Interim Director of UNIDEMI Research Centre, and from 16 January 2025 to 17 February 2025 he served as Interim Head of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. He also belongs to the Executive Council of DEMI and the Department's Council. He was the Erasmus Coordinator of the Mechanical Engineering Course (2016-2025) and member of the Pedagogical Council of NOVA FCT (2021-2025).
