António M. Gonçalves-Coelho taught at the NOVA University Lisbon from 1976 until 2016, when he retired as a Full Professor of Mechanical Engineering. Currently, he is a researcher of UNIDEMI, the Research and Development Unit in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering hosted by the NOVA School of Science and Technology. He is also a chartered engineer by the Portuguese Order of Engineers. His main research concerns are in the field of Design Theory and Methodology, with a focus on the Axiomatic Design (AD) theory created by N.P. Suh in the 1970s. Throughout his career, Professor Gonçalves-Coelho collaborated with agencies for the evaluation and accreditation of Mechanical Engineering schooling programs.
