About Me
Pedro Prates is Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Aveiro. He obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in Production Technologies, from University of Coimbra in 2014. He is a researcher in University of Coimbra from 2010 to 2021, where he also lectured as Invited Assistant Professor. His research is mainly focused on sheet metal forming processes, namely inverse strategies for identifying material parameters, process design and optimization under uncertainties and machine learning applications; his research interests also include elastic-plastic fracture mechanics. He is supervisor of more than 20 M.Sc. and Ph.D. students, and Post-doc researchers. He authored more than 55 publications, including international journal papers and book chapters and conference proceedings, and is a reviewer of several scientific publications in international journals and conferences. Pedro Prates participates in several national and European research projects; he is also Principal Investigator of project EZ-SHEET, funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology.
