About Me
Gonzalo Otero Irurueta carried out his PhD thesis at ICMM-CSIC (Spain) under the supervision of Prof. José Angel Martín-Gago. His thesis was focused on the on-surface synthesis of new nano-objects from small molecular building blocks. Thus, fullerenes and triaza-fullerenes were obtained by surface assisted cyclo-dehydrogenation of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons on a platinum surface. The experiments were performed by the most advanced experimental techniques, such as Scanning Tunnelling Microscopy (STM), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) and Low Energy Electron Diffraction (LEED). After completing his PhD he did a stay as post-doctoral researcher in the same group until 2013, when he moved to TEMA, University of Aveiro as post-doctoral researcher. Since 2016 he is an Assistant Researcher in TEMA, University of Aveiro.
