About Me
João Nuno Gonçalves is a full-time Invited Assistant Professor in Data Science at Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) and Researcher at CEGE - Research Centre in Management and Economics, Católica Porto Business School. He holds a PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering (Business Analytics) from University of Minho and his research focus is on the development of business analytics models to improve supply chain management (SCM). In this context, inventory risk management and supply/demand forecasting are among his main areas of interest. João Nuno Gonçalves is the Coordinator of the BSc in Applied Data Science and member of the board of directors of the Institute of Computing and Data Science at UCP. His research work has been recognized with distinctions/prizes in the context of Operations Research and Supply Chain Management (OR&SCM), including the Logistics Excellence Award Academy 2022, awarded by the Portuguese Logistics Association (APLOG). During his teaching career, he has been distinguished (by 6 times) with pedagogical merit awards/distinctions as a lecturer in the areas of OR&SCM. In 2022, 2023 and 2024 he received the Diploma of Pedagogical Merit by the School of Engineering of University of Minho.
