About Me
Afonso Santos is an R&D fellow at ALGORITMI Research Center at the University of Minho. He holds a master's degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering obtained at the University of Minho (Portugal). Afonso specialized in the field of embedded systems carrying out his master’s thesis under the supervision of Dr. Sandro Pinto. Afonso's thesis focused on embedded virtualization and security, where a hypervisor, designed to the Armv8-M processor architecture, was adapted to host several guests. Afonso is also a contributor to the Bao (static partitioning) hypervisor, with his main contributions focused on adapting Bao to the Arm Cortex-R52 processor of the Armv8-R architecture. His research interest includes embedded virtualization, safety-critical systems, operating systems, real-time systems, embedded security for IoT-based systems, fault-tolerance, and hardware/software co-design.
